Best Picture:
Who Should Win: Django Unchained of course! But alas, it has no chance.
Who Will Win: Argo. I am convinced this is a lock. It would be a major upset if it didn't win.
Best Director: This is an interesting category as Ben Affleck was screwed out of a nomination and would of been the favorite to win.
Who Should Win: Ang Lee. Life of Pi was one of the best movies of the year and he did a masterful job of translating this book to screen.
Who Will Win: Ang Lee. Part of me believes that Spielberg will win but I don't see much love at this seasons award ceremonies going to "Lincoln" so I am holding out hope that Lee wins.
Best Actor:
Who Should Win: Denzel Washington. He gave a terrific nuanced performance that also happens to be one of his best performances ever.
Who Will Win: Daniel Day Lewis. This I believe is another lock. He has won every major acting award leading up to the Oscars and will win his 3rd Oscar here.
Best Actress: This is one of the hardest categories for me to figure out.
Who Should Win: Jennifer Lawrence. I believe her performance in "Silver Linings" was the best by an actress this year.
Who Will Win: Jennifer Lawrence. A month ago I believed Jessica Chastain was going to win, and still might, but the sentiment now seems to be that Lawrence gave the best performance in a film with several other great one's.
Best Supporting Actress:
Who Should Win: Sally Field. She held her own with DDL and Tommy Lee Jones with a character that was tricky to pull off but she mastered it.
Who Will Win: Anne Hathaway. Another lock.
Best Supporting Actor: This is by far the toughest category for me to figure out as every nominee has won before.
Who Should Win: Christoph Waltz. He was really the backbone of Django and other than Samuel L Jackson, no other actor is better suited for delivering QT's lines.
Who Will Win: Tommy Lee Jones. Actors love him. The Academy loves him. He also had several meaty scenes in "Lincoln" which should give him his second Oscar.
Best Cinematography:
Who Should Win: Claudio Miranda. The visuals in Life of Pi were breathtaking and he deserves this award.
Who Will Win: Claudio Miranda.
Best Adapted Screenplay:
Who Should Win: David Magee. Having read Yann Martels novel Life of Pi I thought there was no way it could be adapted to the screen. Most credit goes to Ang Lee and David Magee.
Who Will Win: Chris Terrio. I feel like Argo will get some other love than Best Picture and this will be it.
Best Original Screenplay:
Who Should Win: Quentin Tarantino. His Django script is the definition of original populated by great dialogue and memorable characters.
Who Will Win: Quentin Tarantino. While a part of me believes that the Academy wont honor him for this film I am crossing my fingers they do!
